My creative journey began in my youth. I began playing guitar before the age of 10 and pursued hard rock music during the 80’s until my late twenties. I was writing original music, recording demos and playing live in clubs on the South Jersey / Philly circuit. It was an amazing time to be a guitar player! In my early thirties I attended The Culinary Institute of America and worked as a chef for more than a decade in New England. Seeking a new creative outlet I taught myself to paint at age 38. After a few years I left the restaurant industry and began painting full time. Still at it 25 years later… My love of hard rock music remains strong. I often feel my abstracts are visual power chords expressed on canvas instead of through an amplifier… rebellion in acrylics…

I create bold abstracts using acrylics and mixed media on both canvas and wood panels. To me the different sections of each piece represent chapters in a book, acts in a play, parts of our personalities or phases of our lives. The colors that sometimes peek through, and the ones that boldly announce themselves, represent our earliest memories and experiences still surfacing to this day...

Each one can look and feel very different but they are linked and together they tell a unique story.

I find working in abstracts to be both liberating and therapeutic. I begin each piece with a notion of where I want to go, but once the first paint is applied it then becomes a collaboration between my creative instincts and the materials at hand. I merely get to decide when the interaction ends. My hope is that my artwork somehow captures and shares the energy, emotions and life experiences that helped me create it.

Custom pieces and large installations considered…

JD Logan

I’ve seen this work in person and I can tell you that it’s fantastic art-making. Beautiful compositions, richly textured, multi-layered, and very sophisticated color-mixing.

JD Logan’s work is both complex and calming, modern and sophisticated. It adds visual interest and a sense of reflection to any wall anywhere in your home or office. Really!
